Medicine
We are happy to administer medicine to your child during the school day e.g. calpol, asthma pumps or antibiotic medication.
Parent / carer must fill in a medication consent for before the school are able to administer the medication.
If you wish for your child to carry and self-administer medicine e.g. asthma pumps, you will need to fill in a specific form.
Parents will need to bring any medication to reception in the morning and then collect at the end of the day.
Pictures / Videos / Social Media
The school uses social media on a daily basis in order to share pupils’ experiences and successes. This includes pictures, videos & pupils names. Occasionally, external agencies wish to share photos that school pupils have been a part of on their personal social media.
We ask annually for permission of parents/carers.
Trips around Aberaeron
The school takes advantage of it’s special location at every opportunity and therefore occasionally take pupils for a visit to the forest, the beach, the town, the harbour or the park.
To enable us to do this, we need the consent of parent / guardian.

Swimming
All pupils in years 3, 4, 5 & 6 attend weekly swimming lessons at Aberaeron Swimming Pool/
Year 3 & 4 lessons are held every Wednesday afternoon
Year 5 & 6 lessons are held every Thursday afternoon.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast club is held daily. Doors open at 8 o’clock and closes at 8:35. A charge of £1 is raised for anyone who arrives between 8:15 and 8:35. The club does not open before 8:00.
It is possible to pay for the breakfast club through Parentpay.
Available for breakfast is:
Toast with low fat flora spread and low sugar jam.
Breakfast cereal – sugar-free Rice Krispies, Porridge, Corn Flakes or Weetabic with semi-skimmed milk.
Orange or apple fruit juice.
Free School Meals
All full-tome pupils attending the primary sector in Ceredigion have been automatically entitled to free school meals (UPFSM) since September 2023
Note that if your child/children attend the specified years, and you want to receive the School Essentials Grant payment, you will still need to complete an application form for Free School Meals. You should also let the school know directly if your child or children want to receive a free meal every day, or if they want to bring their own lunch.
Free school meals are available to eligible pupils who attend schools, full time and managed by Ceredigion Education Authority:
This includes:
- Younger children who attend for full days (aged 4+)
- Sixth form pupils
A pupil may be able to get free meals if their parent or guardian (that is, the person who has care of the child) gets any of the following:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guarantee element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- from 1 April 2019, Universal Credit – provided your household has an annualised net earned income1 of no more than £7,400 (as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)

Lunch Menu
Below is the school winter lunch menu ParnetMail.
We cater for a wide range of special dietary requirements and offer vegetarian options on a daily basis; current customer requirements are varied to include vegan, coeliac, soya, halal and diabetic.
We also provide meals to pupils with allergens and/or intolerances to specific products. The Food Standards Agency’s website has established a list of 14 allergens:
- Gluten
- Milk
- Crustaceans
- Celery
- Molluscs
- Mustard
- Eggs
- Sesame
- Fish
- Lupin
- Peanuts
- Nuts
- Soybeans
- Sulphur dioxide at levels above 10mg/kg, or 10mg/litre, expressed as SO2
In the event that your child has a requirement for a special diet and/or has an allergy/intolerance to any of the above listed allergens, we ask you to inform the catering staff at the school immediately so that suitable meals can be planned and prepared for your child/children.

The school uses the programme Class Charts. Class Charts is used as a way of developing the school/home link and to give parents a better idea of your child’s progress.

Starting School - Nursery
Nursery Class
During the half term before your child is due to start in the Nursery class, you will receive an invitation to attend a taster morning. There will be an opportunity for your child to meet the class staff and pupils, join in activities and also familiarize themselves with the school.
While your child is in class, you will have the opportunity to meet the class teacher where you can ask any relevant questions you may have. We also ensure all the forms are filled in and that the school has the most up-to-date information.
